Courage and Gratitude During Challenging Times

Let's face it, hearing of a pandemic is definitely unsettling. We knew "IT" was marching slowly towards us (how could IT not?), and now we find ourselves trying to wrap our heads around what is happening. Most of us don't have the tools or life experiences to draw upon, so we may worry. Life gets turned upside down, events get cancelled, and fear rears its ugly head. Gratefully, we have experts in the health care field that can help us navigate this novel Coronavirus outbreak.

We also have teachers among us who can help guide us in healing the difficult emotions that we are experiencing at this time.

One is Tara Brach. Ph.D. Her teachings blend Western psychology and Eastern spiritual and mindfulness practices. She offers a beautiful practice called R.A.I.N. to help us tap into aspects of life that cause us concern, and how we can bring healing into these painful places. Lama Tsultrim Allione, a western born Tibetan Buddhist Lama, offers a five-step process for healing our "demons", the fears, obsessions, insecurities, anxieties, chronic illnesses and other maladies that cause us to suffer. Based upon the ancient Tibetan healing practice of Chöd, literally translated as cutting, this meditative practice invites us to welcome and feed that which we would prefer to ignore.
