Earth • Fire • Water • Wind • Storm
Unless we're in the middle of a polar vortex or a several-day stretch of 100+ degree weather, I typically enjoy being outside. There's something about the warmth of a Minnesota summer, as well as the crunch of snow beneath my boots, that energizes me. The "Theatre of Seasons" that we enjoy in the Midwest offers ample opportunity to explore the healing that awaits us when we venture outdoors. I'll admit, of course, that it may take a wee bit of coaxing to get me outside when the weather is less that desirable; yet, the call to connect with the energies of Nature is strong, and I typically surrender to the invitation.
The grounding power of Earth, Fire’s creative energy, the cleansing frequency of Water, and Wind's calming vibration are all examples of how the elements are involved in the process of healing. And then . . . there's Storm! More an event than an actual element, Storm makes its appearance when the other four elements are in dynamic balance.
As we begin to work with the elements, either one at a time or together, we will begin to notice shifts within our body, mind and spirit. Maybe slowly at first, or perhaps not. It is up to us to learn about, work with and explore the gifts that Nature offers. Are you ready? If so, what are you waiting for?
